Fox & Lamp

A Colophon

or, a note from the keeper

About this site

This is a small, hand-built corner of the internet. The fox is not here — he rarely is — but the lamp is, and that is sometimes enough. The games on the catalogue are made by one person, played in browsers, and ask nothing of you.

There is no sign-up, no account, no nudge to share, and no premium tier. If you find something here you like, you may simply come back. Or not.

A note on patronage

The two rails on either side of the catalogue are kept ready for a kindly sponsor. If you make a thing the keeper might recommend — a typeface, an indie game, a paper goods shop, a small tool for makers — write to hello@foxandlamp.com.

The keeper takes one patron at a time per rail, and asks for a single still illustration and a line of text. Nothing more. No animation, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts. The placement looks like the rest of the page, because it is the rest of the page.

Rates are gentle, negotiable, and may be paid in kind. A typeface I would actually use is worth more to me than a banner-ad budget.

If you are an ad network with a sensible house style — EthicalAds, Carbon — the keeper will hear from you when the site grows into the kind of traffic you need. Until then, the rails wait for letters.

The keeper's word on you

The lamp keeps no record of you. There are no cookies set by this site, no analytics scripts, no third-party trackers. Visitors are counted in the aggregate, because that is how a site is served at all. Nothing else is logged.

You may visit anonymously, read anonymously, leave anonymously. The keeper does not know who you are, and does not need to.

A coin in the saucer

If the lamp has lit anything for you — an evening's quiet, a half-hour's puzzle, a tile that pleased the eye — you may leave a small coin in the saucer. It pays no bills, but it warms the keeper's hands.

The keeper

Letters, notes, kind words, corrections, and small gifts of typography are welcome at hello@foxandlamp.com. Replies arrive when they arrive.

The lamp is still on. The fox is not here. The keeper thanks you for coming by.
